WARNING

NOT EVERYTHING THAT

CALLS ITSELF ORTHODOX IS

TRULY ORTHODOX

The above warning was given to me when I first met Orthodoxy in 1986. Today [2009] it is even more perilous, even more difficult to find the Royal Path. For one thing there is a far greater abundance of misinformation. And many materials are missing, and other materials are being rapidly rewritten. For another thing there are fewer than ever guides remaining on the Royal Path, especially who speak English. Hopefully this website will be a place where Newcomers to the Faith can keep at least one foot on solid ground, while they are "exploring."

St. John of Kronstadt asked the Abbess to write her autobiography.   She wrote it as an obedience.

The autiobiography was serialized in Platina's Orthodox Word magaine in 1987.  I scanned some of the chapters from the magazine rather than from the book to save myself time.

When Platina published the autobiography in book form, 1989, they added parts II, III, IV, V.  -- interesting history, funeral orations and some of the abbess' poetry.

We can thank Platina for making this book available to us in English.  But — even in those earlier years, Platina was showing evidence that they were no longer on the same path as Fr. Seraphim.

Platina's OW magazines should be differentiated from Fr. Seraphim's OW magazines.  After Fr. Seraphim's repose, Platina's magazines soon started to contain what Fr. Gregory Williams called, "landmines."

Starting with issue #144 (which contains a part of the serialization of Abbess Thaisia's Autobiography), Platina starts introducing false elders.  This is just the beginning of their shenanigans.  In this issue Platina introduces false elder Sophrony.  This NEVER would have happened if Fr. Seraphim had been there...
