WARNING

NOT EVERYTHING THAT

CALLS ITSELF ORTHODOX IS

TRULY ORTHODOX

The above warning was given to me when I first met Orthodoxy in 1986. Today [2009] it is even more perilous, even more difficult to find the Royal Path. For one thing there is a far greater abundance of misinformation. And many materials are missing, and other materials are being rapidly rewritten. For another thing there are fewer than ever guides remaining on the Royal Path, especially who speak English. Hopefully this website will be a place where Newcomers to the Faith can keep at least one foot on solid ground, while they are "exploring."

This is the pragmatism of Vatican II in Orthodoxy

ROCOR-MP has fallen into world orthodoxy so deep, it is now experiencing symptoms that the Roman Church manifested with Vatican II.

Sub. Nektarios interviews Evan Stern, a convert from the ROCOR-MP

Excerpt from interview
  from 39:21 to 41:17

Evan Stern: ...once you see it, you see it everywhere.
Like the latest synodal statement about the things that are happening in Russia — they don't have the teeth to say: "communism."  They use a euphemism.   They say, "dangerous 20th century ideologies" or something.  They're completely neutered.  They can't even name the demonic force that they claim to stand against.  Because it would cause too much of a rift in the former Soviet Union.

Sbn Nektarios:  [ROCOR had an 80-year witness against Sergianism.  MP is on the cusp of canonizing Sergius Stragorodsky.  It will be interesting to see what ROCOR-MP does about that. paraphrased ~jh]

Evan Stern:   I actually got a chance to ask Fr. Dcn. Psarev about that in person and I said, "it seems like they're going to canonize Sergius pretty soon."  And he said, "I don't doubt that they will."  And my question was, "how will you teach at Jordanville when we have all of our modern saints who are, — I mean there is no gray area here, again —  Sergius of sorry memory.  He is a traitor. He is an agent of the devil."  And he said, "Well, we will respect their decision, but we won't agree with it."

And that again, it's just we've returned to this pragmatic church.  This is the pragmatism of Vatican II in Orthodoxy.
