WARNING

NOT EVERYTHING THAT

CALLS ITSELF ORTHODOX IS

TRULY ORTHODOX

The above warning was given to me when I first met Orthodoxy in 1986. Today [2009] it is even more perilous, even more difficult to find the Royal Path. For one thing there is a far greater abundance of misinformation. And many materials are missing, and other materials are being rapidly rewritten. For another thing there are fewer than ever guides remaining on the Royal Path, especially who speak English. Hopefully this website will be a place where Newcomers to the Faith can keep at least one foot on solid ground, while they are "exploring."

affordable, elastic waist, pockets

I would appreciate if somebody knows of a source for traditional square scarves sold at a fair price.  Silk is ok — it is slippery, but not as slippery as nylon or polyester...  Cotton or linen would be best.  Also, those extra sheer scarves that used to be so popular in the 70s... I'd like to have an affordable source for those  — I found them online once, but the cost was ridiculous, I only bought one — a white one for Pascha.   (see photos below)  I discovered a nice way to wear scarves, by taking a plastic headband and inserting it into a square scarf folded into a triangle.  This works wonderfully for me, since I don't like knots tied under my chin -- choir members might understand.  Below is a teddy bear modeling my sheer Pascha scarf.  It is so light weight, I can forget I'm wearing it.  You might be able to detect the headband at the fold, but you really have to be looking for it.

This scarf pictured above is 27"x27"and folded on the bias into a triangle.  A white plastic headband is inserted at the fold.  Plain, simple & functional headbands are sold in the craft department, like at JoAnne's Fabrics or Michael's Crafts.  The longer ends of the scarf are held together with a clear elastic rather than tying a knot.

p.s. I'm not interested in sources like Amazon, Mercari, Etsy, Ebay, Poshmark, etc.  I won't use them.  Not after what they all did to Trump in 2020.
