Since March 29, in all MP churches, clergy have been instructed to offer prayers for victory in the war unleashed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine. For this purpose, a special decree was issued, published by the telegram resource “Orthodoxy and Zombies” https://t.me/orthozombies For failure to comply with the decree, priests can be (and will be) subject to bans. The prayer should also be read by monastics during Lent and by the laity (obviously, after the words of the prayer of Ephraim the Syrian “grant me to see my sins and not condemn my brother”).

The text of the prayer is as follows:

Prayer for Holy Rus'

     Lord God of hosts, God of our salvation, look in mercy on Thy humble servants, hear and have mercy on us: behold, those who want to fight have taken up arms against Holy Rus', eager to divide and destroy her one people.

     Arise, O God, to help Your people and grant us victory through Your power.

     Hasten to your faithful children, who are zealous for the unity of the Russian Church, strengthen them in the spirit of brotherly love and deliver them from troubles. Forbid those who tear apart Thy robe, which is the Church of the Living God, by darkening their minds and hardening their hearts, and overthrow their plans.

     With Your grace, guide those who hold you to all good and enrich them with wisdom!

     Strengthen the warriors and all the defenders of our Fatherland in Your commandments, send down strength of spirit to them, preserve them from death, wounds and captivity!

     Bring those deprived of shelter and those in exile into their homes, feed the hungry, strengthen and heal the sick and suffering, give good hope and consolation to those in confusion and sadness!

     In these days, grant forgiveness of sins and create blissful repose to all who were killed and died from wounds and illnesses!

     Fill us with faith, hope and love in You, restore peace and unanimity in all countries of Holy Rus', renew love for each other in Your people, so that with one mouth and one heart we confess to You, the One God glorified in the Trinity. For You are the intercession, and the victory, and the salvation of those who trust in You, and to You we send glory, to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.
